Personal Note

My journey in psychology began from an early age as I found myself curious about the human body, particularly the brain. I recall being endlessly fascinated by what made each person unique and different. My curiosity coupled with an innate desire to help people is what led me to the field of psychology, and later into the specialized field of pediatric neuropsychology. It didn’t take long in my training to realize that I was passionate about working with children, adolescents, and their families, as well as young adults. I was most inspired by the resilience these young people showed in the face of adversity.

I pride myself in being able to provide clients a safe, empathic environment that is free of judgement, whether it’s an evaluation or a psychotherapy session. It is my philosophy that the key to a successful client-clinician relationship is trust and collaboration. Many times, we tend to focus on the things that are not working; I teach my clients and their families how to find their strengths and give them the tools they need to address their areas of difficulty and improve their quality of life.

“I am thankful for all of the people I have been privileged to work with, especially knowing that they have allowed me to help them during one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

To my clients, thank you for trusting me, inspiring me, and shaping me into the psychologist I am today.”

- Yadira Mir, Psy.D.
